Cause and Effect Blog

After reviewing an article titled: Recreational cannabinoid use: The hazards behind the high” written, by Steve Wright, MD. I felt compelled to create a cause and effect blog focused on the effects of recreational marijuana use. The article details the use of recreational marijuana use. Although recreational marijuana is very popular in America the effects can be very hazardous to users and others. Heavy usage of recreational marijuana can result in lapse of thought and judgement. The results after recreational marijuana use have severe effects on physical and mental capabilities.  More car accidents are the effect of recreational marijuana with increased usage. This type of effect which is caused by recreational marijuana has produced near-doubling of car accidents. Cannabis produces changes in brain structure and function. Continued use of recreational marijuana has the effects of slowed brain development for the youth or adolescent with worsening of anxiety, depression, and suicidal tendencies. People experience a lapse in memory after increased recreational marijuana use. For example, people who have been using recreational marijuana start to forget where they placed car keys, books, money, and other personal valuables. On jobs some workers attendance showed missed days due to increased use of recreational marijuana. The effect of increased recreational marijuana use has resulted in more accidents on the job. Cannabinoid testing has increased for recreational marijuana on jobs. Testing those with recreational marijuana use revealed some had poorer job performance than those not using it.

Although there are some good effects after using medical marijuana for treating cancer and other ailments long-term use have negative results. Long-term recreational marijuana has some negative effects too. Individuals continuing to use recreational marijuana may not recognize the presence or extent of the impairment they are experiencing. They are placing themselves and others in danger not realizing how impaired they are. Some effects of recreational marijuana use are prolonged 24 hours. The effect of impairment lasting for 24 hours usually leaves the user slower to react to situations. These are the effects of recreational marijuana use. College students that were making good grades suddenly become dropouts. College students forget their homework or do not show up for classes. However, other effects of recreational marijuana use are: psychomotor impairment that least 6 hours after smoking, at least 10 hours after digestion, increased heart rate, paranoia, and increased hunger. The effects of recreational marijuana and cannabinoid use have many hazards that should be taken into account whether you should use it or not.

Refutation Blog

The article I read is called Plan B- A Single Mom’s Decision To Go It Alone. This article is written by Alexandra Soiseth. The writer begins the article with her in the Dr. Bakas office for a medical procedure. Her desire to have a child has brought her to Dr. Bakas office to have intrauterine insemination which has a high success rate. She mentions that the sperm was bought from the Scandinavian Cryobank in Denmark. She mentions plan A. The writer’s friend has a wonderful husband by doing things to get married. Alexandra thought by following her friend’s hard work, sheer determination, and a little luck. She would have a child and husband too. This is slippery slope fallacy thinking that if you do what your friend has done you will be married with a child. This is not true. She talks of being alone, single, and childless for the rest of her life. This is hasty generalization. She is almost 40 years old. She can still have a child. She has the rest of her life to find the right guy. Alexandria feels pressure from parents and friends. She remembers her parents’ comments, when I was a teenager my parents said, “You’d better lose that weight or you’re not going to find a boyfriend. Alexandra thought her weight was a factor and she would not find a boyfriend. This is hasty generalization. Definitely not true. Most guys like heavier women.

Alexandra seeks out plan b to have intrauterine insemination. The medical procedure gives her a child after nine months. Kaj is long and thin — 8 pounds, 9 ounces. Although, this procedure does work for some women she is still without her original plan to have a child and husband. The writer admits although a child was born she realizes that rushing did not get a child and husband as the outcome. I think she should have been more patient and waited for the right man instead of rushing.
